STAR CITY’S RECREATIONAL CLUB’S PARENTS, COACHES, AND PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ALL RECREATIONAL SPORTS

Parents and coaches please read the following codes of conduct with your children and players.

  • A. Coaches and Parents should be held to a standard of behavior that provides a positive environment for their child’s sports experience. Parents pledge to be good spectators; to assess the philosophy of the coach and league to make sure it matches the child’s needs; to understand that all children are gifted but not in equal ways; to provide unconditional support; and to pay attention to see if their child is having fun, learning, and improving – as opposed to just winning.

Coaches’ Code of Ethics

  • A. I will place the emotional and physical wellbeing of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • B. I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
  • C. I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
  • D. I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
  • E. I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all players.
  • F. I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and teach these rules to my players.
  • G. I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills I teach.
  • H. I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for the children and not the adults.

Parents’ Code of Ethics

  • A. I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for my child participating in youth sports by following this Parents’ Code of Ethics Pledge.
  • B. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or other youth sports event.
  • C. I will place the emotional and physical wellbeing of my child ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • D. I will support coaches and officials working with my child, to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  • E. I will remember that the game is for youth – not for adults.
  • F. I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my child.
  • G. I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials, with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
  • H. I promise to help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as, being a respectable fan and providing transportation for my child.

Players’ Code of Ethics

  • A. I hereby pledge to be positive about my youth sports experience and accept responsibility for my participation by following this Players’ Code of Ethics Pledge.
  • B. I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, officials, and parents at every game and practice by demonstrating good sportsmanship myself.
  • C. I will attend every practice and game that I can, and will notify my coach if I cannot.
  • D. I will do my very best and listen and learn from my coaches.
  • E. I will treat my coaches, other players, officials, and fans with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or abilities and I will expect to be treated accordingly.
  • F. I will encourage my parents to be involved with my team in some capacity because it is important to me.
  • G. I will do my very best in school.
  • H. I will remember that sports are an opportunity to learn and have fun.
